About Us

Promise Center for Autism (PCA) is a multidisciplinary clinic with two locations in San Antonio, TX. We currently offer outpatient pediatric therapy services including evidence-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST) for children with autism and other developmental delays ages 18 months through 12 years old.

Our services are provided in a variety of settings such as center, school, and community, implementing interventions that include ABA therapy, OT, and ST with an emphasis in naturalistic environmental teaching and play- based techniques. We also offer parent and staff training, consultations, social skills group and community supports.

We are a team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Assistant Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Registered Occupational Therapists (OTR), Speech Language Pathologists (SLP), and trained paraprofessionals that develop, implement and monitor comprehensive interventions programs that include language, communication, social, motor, play, academic, self-help, and functional behavior goals.

Each child is unique and we believe that success and progress come through teaching with compassion and empathy with evidence-based. PCA practices trauma-informed care which lends itself to connection with each child. Our programs focus on building confidence and motivation through positive reinforcement, compassion, and principles of ACT (acceptance and commitment teaching) that reinforces child-led intervention. These techniques include acknowledging and affirming emotions, problem solving and diffusion, and practicing calming and coping techniques. We focus on promoting the child's natural strengths while considering their current skill level in each developmental domain. PCA values each child's personality and individualism, while emphasizing family’s involvement and engagement. This holistic approach lends to successful and meaningful outcomes.

ACT is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contacting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behavior in the service of chosen values (to learn more about ACT, click here).

In being more accepting of our children's thoughts and feelings, we hope to create a positive and compassionate learning environment while providing the highest quality services. We also emphasize the family's engagement on interventions. For that reason, we encourage family members and/or caregivers to become an active part and advocate in the child's treatment course.

Our outdoor space lends to a natural environment which promotes play and overall development. Additional support is available with large learning spaces, sensory rooms, and a social skills room for the most comprehensive and fun therapy services!
